Interviews
It is impossible to get everyone together. If u have any questions please come and see me asap and I'll try and help you. Please be working away on your presentation. Only a couple of weeks left!!!
Gaisce please read
Students who are going on the Bronze Gaisce Adventure Challenge on Wednesday please read the following message carefully.
Time of departure: 11.20am so meet in the canteen after break. Be changed into your walking gear for the day and have a day-bag with you that MUST have rain gear, food, drink etc.
Whatever you need for the hostel and walking thursday should go in your overnight bag as the bus will be dropping these to the hostel while we are walking. Bed linen is provided by the hostel but you will need your own towel.
The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday is damp and cold so make sure you have plenty of warm clothing and make sure you have rain gear, hat, gloves. The ground underfoot will be wet in places so old runners/boots that you dont mind getting dirty is advisable. Wellies are not advisable for walking and certainly wont suit wednesdays walking but some people wear them on thursdays walk as you will be in the Poison Glen.
Dinner on wednesday evening will be chicken curry/rice. If you dont like this feel free to take your own food, there is a fully equipped kitchen in the hostel. I will be getting you the necessary food for lunch on thursday and you will make up your lunch on thursday morning.
There is a shop next door to the hostel so bring a small amount of money with you if you wish to go.
Anyone who did cooking/baking as a skill for their award is expected to bring some treats/goodies for wednesday evening to share around.
The signed record sheets for the skill, community and physical activity MUST be handed in to me by next wednesday, may 3rd so I can apply for your medals in time for your graduation ceremony. If there is any problem with this or you have any queries regarding wednesday/thursday please email Mr Walsh tonight.

PE this week
Details to follow - keep an eye on this please this evening!!
Very important - PLEASE READ - CPR
Tues 25th - 910-1225 - N Oliver
However due to the fact that anyone in N Odhran (who are doing Gaisce will miss their session of CPR) - I have had to switch numbers around a bit - apologies for any inconvenience caused - there is no other way of doing this
It means that tomorrow Blathin Ahearne, Emma Burns, Rebecca Connolly, Molly Goss, Renee Moore and Sarah Sweeney (from N Odhran) will do their CPR at 910 tomorrow morning along with N Oliver.
This also means that I have to take 6 students out of N Oliver - as we are only allowed 20 students to do CPR at the one time - these students will join the N Odhran class from 910 until 1225 tomorrow and then rejoin their own class at 1225. These students are Ronan Boyce, Shaun Bryant, Shannon Byrne, Orlaigh Carr, John Joe Doherty and Olivia Hamilton. These 6 students will then do their CPR on Wednesday evening leaving the school at 1225 along with the N Odhran class (this will also mean that N Oliver will have a very small number on Wednesday afternoon - due to Gaisce and also these 6 at CPR)
N Oisin will complete their CPR on Wednesday morning as usual and we will then meet the bus in Letterkenny for anyone who is going on to Gaisce so make sure you have all your stuff with you.
To all students - please make sure that you have lunch with you - you will have to eat this going up or coming down on the bus as we will not have time to stop. The groups going at 1225 - please be out and ready to go.On both days go straight to the bus after reg. Full school uniform to be worn. CPR is very educational and something everyone should have and therefore anyone on 4 strikes will be going to do it and then they will miss the next trip.
Hope that I have covered everything here
Thanks

Croagh Patrick!! PE - take note
Please take note of these points
Get all your work done and handed in - I do not want any silly strikes - which will stop you going on this overnight activity!!
My year in TY - vital points
You must complete your 3 min presentation (see previous msgs) - this must be loaded on your E-portfolio on the Home page by Friday 12th May - I will be checking that it is loaded - if it is not there will be a penalty (loss of marks) - this is to make it fair on everyone
Interviews are the 15th - 18th May - You must be available!!!
In the interview you will open your E - portfolio
Show us the box at the top with everything filled in by yourself - on the home page
Go through the 3 min presentation (which has been loaded) and then we will ask you questions for the remaining 2 mins - please point out any special or different things you have done throughout the year - you will be asked to show pieces from your portfolio and scrap book
Please note - you must have your Yellow sheet with you fully signed by teachers and parents/guardians
This is your chance to show off what you have done throughout the year - be proud to do it as I know that you have loads done - please don't be afraid of this opportunity - this will hopefully be a positive experience for you and the teachers interviewing you - the interviews will be in groups (due to time constraints) - there will be at least 2 teachers interviewing you
Tell us everything - don't leave anything out - you have got 5 mins to tell us everything - do your best
Best of luck - I can't wait to see all your work
Presentation - what do i do???
Look at the Loreto Milford website and go to Programmes and then Transition Year. You will see some examples of videos. Please have a look at these. You can come up with your own format - whatever you choose - these videos are only as a guide.
TY Interview questions - Your presentation must be no more than 3 mins long - we will then ask you questions for the remaining 2 minutes - please see the video on the school website - under Programmes and then under TY for an example - this presentation is titled - 'My year in TY'
Questions - failing TY!!! - No one surely!!!
Best of luck
Remember - if u fail TY - there will be no end of year trip - I want all to pass - so good luck !!!
There have been a few questions on this - just to clarify - this is the box that you have to include - u can add this into your e portfolio on the Home page - just copy and paste this box and then fill in your answers - thanks - hope this is clear now
FOR INTERVIEW - REMEMBER TO TAKE IN ANYTHING THAT U HAVE MADE OR CREATED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR - THE MORE VARIETY THE BETTER - THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SHOW OFF ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
This relates to the Top box on the previous msg - the assessment sheet
Please put this in on your e portfolio on the home page
Please take note that your presentation can be no longer than 3 mins - we have to keep it fair for everyone so you will be cut off after the 3 mins is up - we do not want to do this so please make sure that it is no more than 3 mins!!
Good luck
Please read all the next number of posts - VITAL
This is your Assessment Sheet - if you have everything included in your e-portfolio - then you will have no problems at all - u should be working away on this anyway!!!
I will talk to you in more detail when you come back about the actual format
Best of luck with all your work and with the hols - I know a lot of students are doing a number of different activities
Enjoy and best of luck
